An existing industrial building has been transformed into a welcoming and sustainable facility for district nursing services. A finely detailed timber screen creates a filter for shaded and privacy while creating a warm identity to the interiors and a sympathy with the external landscape.
The redevelopment of the Ballarat District Nursing and Healthcare site has upgraded and expanded the existing disparate facilities, originally built as a factory, into an elegant and environmentally sustainable mixed use healthcare facility. The refurbishment has enabled BDNH to provide for expansion of its nursing workforce into the future, increased clinic output, training facilities and improved energy efficiency in a contemporary flexible workplace. The building will provide long term sustainability through environmental quality and durability.
