Peninsula Grammar School Innovation and Learning Centre

Integrated design ideas to portray a building that teaches

fjmtstudio were engaged by Peninsula Grammar in 2018 to provide architectural services for a new Innovation and Learning Centre on the Mount Eliza Campus. The campus is an independent coeducational school for 1400 students ranging from 3-year-old Kindergarten to Year 12. The proposed building is constructed primarily of exposed mass timber and timber facade shading elements. The building draws reference from the site and captures the identity of the campus. As an Innovation and Learning Centre, the project is designed to generate an environment that pursues the notion of learning and creates a sense of cohesion and identity. Ascertaining innovative ideologies through a promotion of different teaching methodologies and learning styles is encouraged to provide a welcoming environment that resonates strongly with those who use the space.
